Qualcomm’s New Snapdragon X50 5G Modem is Almost Here
A few days ago, Qualcomm held its 5G data connection demonstration in its Technologies laboratories in San Diego. This marks the first unveiling of its new Snapdragon X50 5G modem.
Faster Download Speeds
Using 100 MHz 5G carriers, the Snapdragon X50 5G modem reached gigabit download speeds, and showed a 28 GHz millimeter wave (mmWave) spectrum data connection. For the demo, Qualcomm used SDR051 mmWave RF transceiver integrated circuit (IC), Keysight Technologies’ new 5G Protocol R&D Toolset, and UXM 5G Wireless Test Platform.
Qualcomm expects to release the new modem lineup on 5G smartphones and networks in early 2019.
