More powerful processing
Recently, Qualcomm announced their new mobile platform, the Snapdragon 636. Compared to the earlier Kryo 260 CPU, the company claims a 40 percent boost in device performance.
Everything but the kitchen sink
Compared to its predecessors, Qualcomm notes how the new chip, paired with the new Adreno 509 GPU, boosts gaming and browsing performance by 10 percent. Meanwhile, it also comes with the Snapdragon X12 LTE modem, with download speeds of up to 600 Mbps.
Because it comes with 14 nm FinFet processor, the Snapdragon 636 works with the Snapdragon 660 and 630 mobile platforms. It also supports modern ultra-wide FHD+ displays and Assertive Display, promising optimal display visibility in all lighting conditions. Moreover, for exceptional viewing experience, Adreno Visual Processing Subsystem also integrates Qualcomm TruPalette and Qualcomm EcoPix features.
To ensure zero shutter lag, support smooth zoom, fast auto-focus, and color accuracy, the chip features the 14-bit Qualcomm Spectra 160 ISP. As for audio, the new chip can support up to 192kHz/24bit of Hi-Fi audio through Qualcomm Aqstic audio codec.
