In my other blog, I talked about 5 reasons why you should choose to switch to Android. One of those is due to the huge number of apps available. Google officially announced that apps on their Android Market has now surpassed the 100,000 mark. It’s still trailing the Apple App Store which has around 250,000 apps but the 100% growth on Android apps happened in only half a year.
It’s slowly rising but what’s keeping developers from updating or creating new apps? One problem is that Android OS can be found in a number of phones that comes in different shapes, sizes and flavors. The various screen resolution is affecting the way an Android app behaves and it’s hard for developers to look for a compromise to that their app will effective in whatever resolution an Android phone has. At least with Apple, the developers only need to worry about the iPhone/iPod Touch and the iPad.
If you’re wondering about the number of apps available for the BlackBerry via their App World, it’s way below that of Android at only 10,000+.
