Google’s latest Android operating system, the Android 9.0 Pie, starts rolling out on the ASUS ZenFone 5 series smartphones. The new system update brings new features, including an all-new contextual pop-up volume bar, a new magnifier feature for easier copy-paste function, and an improved gesture-based navigation system.
The first to receive the update is the ZenFone 5, the rest of the series–the ZenFone 5Z and ZenFone 5Q–will soon follow. Users can expect major improvements in the ZenUI user experience and system performance. They will also get support for the latest OpenGL and Vulkan APIs for better gaming experience following the update.
The new software is distributed automatically via firmware-over-the-air (FOTA) update, following the schedule below.
- Roll-on going – ZenFone 5 (ZE620KL)
- End of January 2019 – ZenFone 5Z (ZS620KL)
- End of January 2019 – ZenFone 5Q (ZC600KL)
