Instagram, a photo and video-sharing social networking service app, has upgraded its users’ experience following the launch of new IGTV app.
With the newly-introduced app, Instagram is allowing users to air and watch long videos, compared to the usual one-minute video story. IGTV is YouTube-like app, wherein users can also follow and browse video creators’ channels.
“Anyone can be a creator on IGTV and upload videos in their app or on the web,” Instagram said.
Even though you can watch IGTV’s videos within the Instagram app, it is a standalone app that you can download via Google Play Store or App Store.
Instagram CEO Kevin Systrom said during the launch of the app that while IGTV has no advertisements yet, it would be a good avenue for users to monetize from their content. “Obviously a very reasonable place [for ads] to end up,” he added.
The company is hopeful the new app can receive strong traffic given Instagram’s current one billion users around the globe.
