Instagram has released a new app called Threads– providing a new distinct location for real time updates and joining public conversations, Thread also lets you create positive ways to express your ideas.
To start using Threads, you can log in with your Instagram account where you can modify your profile while keeping your Instagram username and verification.
Users under 16 (or under 18 in certain countries) are automatically put into a private profile once they join Threads. This app supports all the key accessibility features that are currently available on Instagram such as screen reader support and AI-generated image descriptions.
Similar to Instagram, it lets you follow and engage with friends and creators who share your interests. Threads posted by individuals you follow, as well as suggested content, will appear in your feed. Posts on Threads can be up to 500 characters long and include photos, links, and videos up to five minutes in length. In addition, posts can be shared on Instagram or other platforms.
In Threads, you have control on who can mention you or reply to you. You can also add hidden words to filter out replies that contain particular words. By pressing the three-dot menu, you can unfollow, block, report, or restrict a profile.
