Samsung has finally made it official and announced its latest flagship smartphone – the Samsung Galaxy S5. Frankly, it looks like our dear old Sammie is taking the route of the phablet and is turning the Galaxy S5 into something more like the said phablet. Well, we couldn’t blame Samsung since it would seem that the Galaxy Note 3 became more popular than the Galaxy S4.
All those being said, let’s now take a closer look at the new Samsung Galaxy S5. Under the hood, this device is pretty much capable and powerful at every aspects. It is powered by a 2.5GHz quad-core application processor and 2GB of RAM. For storage, you’ll have the option for either 16 or 32GB internal memory. It’s also a bit bigger than the Galaxy S4 with its 5.1-inch FHD Super AMOLED display (1920×1080). Naturally, it comes loaded with Android 4.2.2 and comes packed with a 16MP rear camera and 2MP front-facing camera.
For connectivity, the Samsung Galaxy S5 has LTE Cat 4 and fifth generation WiFi 802.11ac and 2×2 MIMO. It also features Download Booster which is an innovative technology for boosting data speed by bonding Wi-Fi and LTE simultaneously.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 is also pre-installed with S Health 3.0 which should help you stay fit and healthy. It also has personal fitness tracker, pedometer, diet and exercise recording and built-in heart rate monitor feature.
For those of you who use your smartphone for photography, you’ll be glad to know that the Galaxy S5’s camera has the fastest autofocus speed up to 0.3 seconds plus high dynmic range (HDR) capability. There’s also Selective Focus that will let you focus on specific area of an object – perfect for creating shallow depth of field (DOF) effects on your photos.
Finally, when it comes to design, the Samsung Galaxy S5 is pretty much the same as its predecessor except for a perforated pattern on its back cover that creates a glam, classy look. It also now comes in a sleek, contoured shape. To complete its fashionable appeal, the Galaxy S5 will be available in various funky colors including – charcoal Black, Shimmery White, Electric Blue and Copper Gold.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 is expected to hit the global markets in April. We’re guessing it will come to the Philippines a couple of months after.

Generally, in real cameras, the higher the pixels the slower it gets and the more it disappoints in low light. Does it apply on smartphones?
no.
Generally, there is no innovation to the new phone.

Iyun nga eh… kung ipupush nila na ganyan ang S5 e di sana totoong phablet na ang kunin mo like the Galaxy Note 3. May kasama pang stylus at leather ang likod.
