Just recently, Samsung announced Samsung Connect Tag, a mobile, multi-purpose tracker with cellular support for IoT (Internet of Things). This allows for tracking not just things, but people as well.
Samsung Connect tag features narrowband network technology (NB-IoT, Cat.M1). This comes with support for GPS, WiFi-based positioning (WPS), and Cell ID to receive accurate location information.
From your pet’s collar to your children’s bags, you can clip the tag just about anywhere. On the other hand, anyone wielding the device can send back a signal to the connected smartphone. This notifications to reveal information about the handler’s whereabouts.
Other than this, the device also sends location notifications periodically.
Through the Works with SmartThings service, Samsung Connect Tag integrates with the company’s ecosystem of products, from phones to appliances. Apart from tracking, the device also functions as switches for smart devices like lights and TVs. Furthermore, the tag sports an IP68 certification lasts for about a week on a single charge.

More details on Samsung Connect Tag’s local pricing and availability remain to be seen. Before making its way to the global market, the device will most likely arrive in South Korean shelves first.
