Philippines reigned once again at the NBA 2K19 Asia Tournament, held last March 2 at the TriNoma Activity Center. The win is already the fourth top podium finish for the Team Philippines in the annual tournament, while the second championship win for Rial Polog Jr.
The first two-time Asia Tournament Champion, Polog Jr. defeated fellow Filipino Clarke Banzon in the adrenaline-filled final round that went to double overtime. South Korea’s Lee Myunghae took the third spot from Hong Kong’s Lee Chun Yin, a first for South Korea in the tournament.
“It is a surreal feeling! I still cannot believe that it happened, definitely the toughest road I had to take and the toughest game of my life” said Polog Jr. “This was all possible due to the support of my family and friends”
A pre-tournament favorite, the Philippines bagged their fourth consecutive champions at the recent NBA 2K Asia Tournament. This year’s finals were held in the Philippines for the first time. The Philippine representatives comepted against players from Hong Kong, South Korea, and Taiwan.
This year’s tournament utilized NBA 2K19’s MyTEAM Mode for the very first time. This mode allows you to build your own dream team with NBA legends and players past and present. It also gives players the ability to customize their team’s jerseys and courts. In addition, players can build their MyTeam from a combination of thirteen Player Cards from their MyTeam Collection. But this is still subject to some card tier limitations. Played exclusively on PlayStation4 (PS4), the tournament featured a prize pool of $10,000.
NBA 2K19 is now available on PS4 system, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC platforms.
