Synology Inc. has launched its first mesh router that supports Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA3), the MR2200ac. The new mesh router features a modular design, offers high-performance, and promises to bring fast, uninterrupted, and secure Wi-Fi throughout the home.
Based on Qualcomm IPQ4019 quad-core system-on-chip, the Synology MR2200ac has a tri-band Wi-Fi design. This eliminates dead zones in your place and deliver broadband internet speeds to every corner of the house. Plus, it has support for standards including 802.11k, v, and r. The router also comes with an intelligent mesh technology that chooses the best route–2.4GHz, 5GHz, or Ethernet–for communication between units. And if you have a Synology RT2600ac, the MR2200ac can extend its coverage further by connecting with it.
Access the Synology Router Manager (SRM) from a browser or the DS router mobile app to manage the MR2200ac router. The manage system comes with a user-friendly and intuitive interface for easy setup and settings. A single Wi-Fi dashboard shows all the status of all Wi-Fi points and wireless devices; a network map visualizes how those Wi-Fi points are connected to each other.
A new feature on the latest SRM 1.2 is the Safe Access package, which features parental controls and automatic security at the network level. Through the system, you can setup user profiles and assign when and for how many hours they can connect tot he internet. You may also block adult-only content through filters and SafeSearch features
For family gadgets and IoT home devices, the SRM 1.2 can detect abnormal acrivities and carefully stop and log them. It also secure your perimeter with DNS and IP threat intelligence tools that block access to malicious destinations in real time.
The Synology MR2200ac is also one of the first routers to be certified by WPA3, the newest Wi-Fi security standard. The router comes with new options including WPA3-Personal, WPA3-Enterprise, and Enhanced Open.
