When a consumer brand starts getting placement in a blockbuster film, you know it’s definitely going to be a huge boost for brand recognition. Alcatel announced over at their FB page that the upcoming Iron Man 3 film will feature their new One Touch smartphones which were recently unveiled during CES 2013.
The actual partnership is between Chinese TV brand TCL and Marvel Studios and we’ll see Tony Stark’s Smart TV of choice as TCL’s humongous 110-inch Ultra HD China Star 3D TV on May 2013.
TCL’s mobile brand, Alcatel, will also be joining the fray but it’s not yet clear which of their new smartphones we’ll see on the film. They unveiled three new One Touch handsets during CES 2013.
There’s the ultra-light smartphone with a 4.7-inch IPS display called the One Touch Idol; the thinnest smartphone yet at 6.45 mm (at the thinnest point), the One Touch Idol Ultra; and the first phone to feature a quad-core MediaTek (MT6589) chipset, the One Touch Scribe HD.
I don’t know about you but Alcatel seems to be improving with the designs of their new handsets. This brand placement on Iron Man 3 is one example of how TCL and Alcatel will share their products to US consumers in 2013.

And here we thought that Alcatel’s way behind Samsung, Apple and HTC. Great strategy, though. Malamang after the movie’s shown, dadami ang bibili ng Alcatel phones.
I agree with you when you say they’re improving with their designs. The first Android device I ever owned was the Alcatel One Touch 980. It was on version 1.6 and it was crappy! The next Android phone was another Alcatel, the OT-918 which I got for my wife because it was the best, affordable dual-SIM Android phone at the time. Then my wife extended her Sun plan and got the Alcatel OT-981n which is currently with me now as a secondary phone.
Come to think of it, Alcatel is quite nice except that their Android phones are loaded with too much bloatware!!!
Now I am a proud Alcatel user.. kasi ako lng may alcatel sa room namin sa school.
Wow those are two Alcatel phones i don’t mind owning. good job on the design!
I think Alcatel in on the right track to get a bigger share of the smartphone shares for 2013. The use of the Quadcore Mediatek on its current flagship phone should give Samsung a run for its midrange phones – provided of course that Alcatel sells the Scribe at a midrange price.
let’s just hope that the prices of these units will not shoot up that much after the release of iron man 3. 🙂
