Google has now done the inevitable. They unveiled their brand-new line of high-end smartphones, named the Pixel line of phones. Of course, numerous rumors and leaks ensured that the Pixel and Pixel XL were not completely kept secret. Thanks to Google partners, this pair of phones were listed on carrier sites a few days before the unveiling even.
The Pinnacle of Smartphone Design
The Google Pixel and Google Pixel XL share the same high-end design, and state-of-the-art capabilities. Not to mention, they’re built by HTC, but for these phones, there’s no trace of HTC anywhere. These are Google phones, and that’s how Google wants to sell them.
The outer design resembles the iPhone 6 and iPhone 7 series, but with a twist. The outer case is an exotic metal and glass build, with the rear mixing the two materials. The simplicity of the device reflects Google’s mantra of the Pixel being “designed inside and out to be simple and smart.”
In terms of features, the phone will be the first to support Google’s Assistant as well as Google’s Android Daydream VR initiatives. There’s also cloud support for enhanced photos in order to maximize the storage available for the user.
Also, Google claims that the Pixel has the best smartphone camera ever made. They’re not wrong though, as score of 89 in DxOMark indicates. It will also come with a brand new Google service, 24/7 customer care support, and screen sharing support.
The Google Pixel and Pixel XL will be available for preorder on October 4th from various retailers, including Google themselves. Pricing starts at USD 649.99 for the 32GB Pixel, while the 128GB version costs USD 749.99. Currently, Google offers the phone in Black, Blue, and Silver. No word yet on when a local release will come, but be sure to regularly check out Google’s site for the Pixel for more info.
