Late January, Cherry Mobile released the Omega for those looking for a large dual-SIM Android phone with its 5.2-inch screen. Now, they just announced the Omega HD, a smaller version at 5-inch but with a high-def display on a scratch-resistant Dragontrail glass.
Dragontrail is not as popular as Corning’s Gorilla Glass but shows promise considering it’s been used on the rugged Sony Xperia Go and the more recent Sony Xperia Z. It’s an alkali-aluminosilicate sheet glass known for its strength and high scratch resistance even on a thin form. This marks the first time for Cherry Mobile to utilize a durable component for their handset.
The 5-inch screen of the Omega HD has a 720×1280 HD resolution on an IPS panel. It uses the same 1GHz dual-core MediaTek processor as that of the Cherry Mobile Skyfire. What’s nice here is that it has 1GB of RAM so you can now play more of those resource-intensive games. Internal storage is still limited at 4GB but you get microSD support of up to 32GB.
There’s also a whopping 12-megapixel rear camera with a BSI lens for slightly better than usual low-light photos. Front facing camera is at 2-megapixel too so video chats won’t look too pixelated unlike from typical VGA cameras. Battery is not too shabby either at 2,100mAh which is rated for 8 hours talk time.
The Cherry Mobile Omega HD will be available this April for just Php7,899.

More or less these were the rumored specs of the first Omega which resulted in all the hype. This should have been the initial release.
The Dragontrail Glass Technology + 5 inch HD IPS screen + 12MP BSI cam on this baby is a WIN. The only downside is the processor and graphics.. But still, this is good for those who like to take pictures. Nice move cherry mobile!
yeah, panalo yung 12mp camera (on paper that is) pati yung HD display. sayang talaga processor, hindi kayang magfull hd video recording tuloy.

Actually, There’s no downside at all. Everything you want on an HD Resolution phone is within. And dont forget the price tag of P7900 only. What else can you ask for?

This would be another step for cherry mobile! Breaking the concept of “positioning” which used as marketing strategy of early developer of mobile phones, and now, an obsolete action. Because this time, searching for possible opportunities in the noisy place of confusion is hard, and become harder. But being a tough player with a competitive creativity and humility that could touch the hearts of your target prospects will surely uplift you to get the triumph.
The only thing that I’ve noticed, is the after sale support of your team. Cherry Mobile must be aware of it, you cannot satisfy your customers without the after-sales support. Don’t adopt the concept of “Low-Cost, Low-Profile”.

Sa isang bagay lang sila consistent laging hindi nagcocompliment ang specs nila sa isa’t-isa.. maybe the screen would be highlight of this phone but dapat i-consider din yung processor.. underdog tuloy yung procie..haha
No. The MTK MediaTek processor will suffice. Quad core would cost like double the price considering that this phone also has an HD IPS Dragontrail glass and 1GB of RAM.

they are so pushy kasi sa product nila without reflecting the after effect. mukhang pera na tlaga ang labanan. I am not impressed with CM products, mas lalo pa ang AFTER Sale support nila the worst amongst the rest. Sorry CM but thats the FACT! If they could handle the customers’ concern as well, they might be the number one best local smartphone provider ever. Hope you realize it CM. By the way, it’s still part of your marketing strategy – to persuade smartphone users to replace their old units for another one… which possible for those easy-go-lucky people, who has enough money to spend. Money-concern.
simple solution if you want a sub 10k android with decent after sales support then purchase the entry level androids offered by samsung, lenovo, alcatel, etc.
local brands will NEVER equal the quality of support established brands will give you. the comprise for mid to low highend specs at an affordable price is the after sales support. kaya wag na kayo magreklamo.

scratch-resistant po ang dragontrail glass not scratch-proof. malamang ay merong mas matigas na element ang nakascratch sa kanya. kahit yung gorilla glass din naman nascra-scratch din. mahirap nga lang ma-scratch pero it’s possible.

With the hd display and that very slim bezel, at first glance, this phone looks very high end… it got slimmer bezel than the s3 if im not mistaken…
atleast the processor wont consume much of its battery considering it is a dual-core processor. it can do multi tasking as well and since the processor is an a9 it can handle a heavy multi-tasking. so dont underestimate its processor

I have a tablet with 1GHz Dudal-core CPU and 800×1280 screen, Antutu Benchmark is 8,800+. Maybe the Omega HD needs some sort of software optimization? I Hope CM comes out with a rom upgrade…
PS: Sorry I’m not too techie to understand Antutu benchmarking, especially how the CPU and the screen resolution affects the score.

cherry mobile re-brands
Cherry mobile is a local brand, Yes that is true.
But….
Their mobile phones are rebranded meaning hindi sila nag manufacture and nag design – Omega HD is IQ6 from india.Starmobile diamond is IQ4 from india as well same manufacturer.
Saw this kanina, and it’s impressively slim. The thing that concerned me is the 2100 mAh battery which means charging by lunchbreak in the office esp for mid to heavy users of mobile net.
PS. And i would probably consider this as soon as my fave twitter app becomes available for android platform. One can’t have it all for an entry-level price, imo.

ASK KO LANG PO….Bakit po walang signal ang Omega HD ko when i enable the 3G and then set it to “WCDMA only”? But if i select GSM/WCDMA (auto-mode), EDGE naman ang signal….For the record, may 3G naman sa area ko….Anyone? You can do the following:
1. Settings
2. click More… (you can see that Under Data usage)
3. click Mobile Networks
4. click Data Connection. Choose your preferred sim which will be using 3G connection.
5. click 3G Service
6. click Enable 3G and click the same sim you chose in step 4
7. click Network Mode and set it to GSM/WCDMA auto mode
8. Try restarting your phone although I just wait for it or nagtatambling muna ako.
9. Check for the letter “H” on the signal bar of the sim you chose on step 4 and step 6.
9. Use a browser to check the speed. Click on Chrome or Opera Mini to see if they are loading at all.
10. Pag ayaw talaga, ibato mo sabay mura kasi yun ginawa ko. Akalain mo nagload.

Bought Omega HD the first week it came out. I still have it but plans to sell it is not a far distant future. Here’s why.
1. The battery. Minsan we’re not really after the battery but truth be told, you charge it 4 hrs and you can use it for 4 hrs. Wala pang gaming yan. Just pure data connection (internet) using LOWEST light display.
2. Naghahang talaga siya whenever you install themes. Alam mo naman tayong mga Pinoy, we like to customize our gadgets and sad to say na although you can install themes, games, and whatnots, it affects the performance of the phone. That is expected because the 720p HD is pushing its power.
3. Too fast, too furious. Meaning mabilis uminit yung battery although it runs on a dual core processor. It will prompt you that the battery is overheating. If that continuously happens, masisira ang battery mo and eventually the phone.
4. Post service. Okay, may e-warranty ka nga pero nung nagkaproblema ako sa pagchacharge kasi hindi na masyado gumagana, I emailed CM four times and you all my efforts resulted to nothing from their end. I called them up but to no avail. That is the saddest thing amongst all.
So there, I don’t know how will I ever sell this Omega HD but I hope someone will buy it. Pero ayoko rin na magkaproblema yung next user. Hayyyyy. Samsung Note 2 na nga lang. Lol.

well,mahirap yan pag qualcom based ito.mas mabuti pa siguru if mtk based andriod.kc madali ayusin at reprogram if ever ito ma hang up.
commom talaga mga ganyan phone na ma hangup. ang masama dun. 50 – 50 repairable. unlike mtk based 100 ma ayos pa.
anyway am not being baised here kc lahat naman model ng phone kahit i phone orig or samsung s3 or s4 or lg na hahang.pero repairable sila.
