Just got word from our friends from Research in Motion (RIM) that their BlackBerry 6 OS is now available for Curve 3G and Bold 9700 owners, finally! It took them quite a while (it was announced way back in June last year) but here it is and it’s free to upgrade.
To upgrade, existing owners of the BlackBerry Curve 3G and BlackBerry Bold 9700 can connect their smartphone to their computer and go to ap.blackberry.com/blackberry6 to download the update.
The new BlackBerry 6 operating system includes an intuitive user interface, enhanced web browsing experience, universal search, social feeds and an engaging multimedia experience. The first BlackBerry phones to have the BlackBerry 6 OS were the Bold 9780 and Torch 9800 which have the new OS already pre-installed.

Got word from RIM, here’s what they said:
“They would like to advise people to get in touch with their carrier to give them guidance. Carriers should be able to support consumers from hereon.”
