Look at what we got here? The iPad 2 along with a Smart Cover. Well actually, our good friend Crish who lives in the US was kind enough to send us these unboxing photos and some few, short thoughts about her new toy.
Nothing noticeably new in the front except for the tiny camera for video calls.
Here’s a shot of the rounded back. See the obscure speaker grill on the lower left? Don’t remove the plastic yet until you get a decent case/sleeve because the Smart Cover won’t be covering its back.
Here’s something you need to know about the polyurethane Smart Cover. It easily gets dirty. You can opt for the darker colors but they are reserved for the leather version and will cost you $40 more. Also, Crish said that prolonged folding of the cover will make the creases more pronounced that you would see some ugly wrinkling on them in the long run. She suggests to skip the Smart Cover and get a proper case or sleeve that would also cover the back of the iPad 2. None were available yet when she bought hers.
Here’s a shot of the iPad with the Photobooth app.
So how much exactly did this 32GB iPad WiFi cost her?
- $599 for the iPad
- $39 for the Smart Cover
- 8.25% sales tax in Texas
It totaled to $692.78 or roughly around Php30.2k. She brought it at Best Buy which only has 10 pieces of each version. Lucky girl. I’m tempted to buy one but I think I’ll wait until proper casing for the iPad 2 becomes available. Gray market here would probably sell a 32GB WiFi starting at around Php40k and may go up to Php50k.
Thank you very much to Crish of MyFashionJuice.com for these photos. Crish is an upcoming fashion blogger living in Texas and loves to dabble with gadgets from time to time.
