Canon just released its newest mirrorless camera, the EOS M50. Equipped with the new DIGIC 8 image processor and Dual Pixel CMOS Auto Focus (AF), the Canon M50 now comes with 4K video shooting mode, 5-axis image stabilization, and a Vari-angle LCD.
The 24.1 megapixel APS-C CMOS Sensor, features an improved Dual Pixel CMOS AF that allows the M50 to perform well even under low lighting conditions. The new CMOS AF also now covers a larger area, with up to 143 AF points (covering 88% horizontal by 100% vertical area) when paired with a compatible lens.
The M50 touts 4K movie shooting capabilities, able to produce footage four times the resolution of full HD. Moreover, through 4K Frame Grab, users can extract high-resolution images from videos taken. It also features a dedicated time-lapse setting, which pairs smoothly with 4K.
Apart from Combination IS, which reduces camera shake during movie shooting, the M50 also rocks a 2.36 million dot Electrical Viewfinder (EVF). This ensures seamless videos, even for HD 120p frame rates through slow-motion playback. Moreover, the EVF can also shoot without glare interferences even under bright sunlight.
With the normal ISO speed of 25600 and expandable to 51200, users can shoot without much noise regardless of available light source. The M50 also shoots at approximately 10 frames per second (fps) in one shot AF and 7.4 fps in Servo AF. This keeps shots clear, even when subjects constantly move. Even more so, the EOS M50 comes with a vari-angle LCD, which keeps shooting angles flexible.
Designed for single-handed use, buttons and dials sit on the right side of the camera. Canon also equipped the mirrorless camera with WiFi and NFC for seamless connectivity among devices. Finally, the M50 features an exclusive Silent mode, which mutes the shutter sound. This makes it perfect for capturing photos of a child fast asleep or of classical concerts.
