We’ve already been introduced to quite a number of ASUS 2-in-1 hybrid devices, from the Android-based Transformer series to the VivoTab Windows 8 Tablets. Now, ASUS has yet again introduced a new ultraportable device in its Transformer lineup, the ASUS Transformer Book Trio and this time, it’s a 3-in-1 hybrid. Aside from its ability to convert into a laptop or a tablet, its dock can also function as a desktop PC, the first hybrid device of its kind. What’s more is that it can run both Windows 8 and Android OS.
The ASUS Transformer Book Trio is powered by two processors and has both Windows 8 and Android OS installed on its system. When in Windows 8 laptop mode, with its base attached to the display, it is powered by a Core i5 or Intel Core i7 4500U processor. Its detachable 11.6 inch full HD IPS Display has its own Intel Atom Z2560 1.6 GHz processor, up to 64 GB solid-state storage and runs on Android Jelly Bean 4.2 OS. With its display docked, users can switch instantly between Windows and Android OS via the dedicated “œTrio” key that can be found on its keyboard.
Unlike other ultraportable hybrid devices, the ASUS Transformer Book Trio’s base is usable even without its (tablet) display. The base or “˜PC Station’ can be used as a desktop PC by connecting an external display via its Mini DisplayPort or Micro-HDMI port. Pretty cool, huh? Well, it’s a little pricey at Php 49,995 for the Core i5 configuration and at Php 54,995 for the Core i7 configuration but then again, it’s a dual-OS laptop, tablet and desktop PC in one.
