We talked about the emerging new ways for candidates to connect to the younger voters. Some candidates have websites of their own. They are even using Friendster. (I wonder if there are Twitter candidates already – “Going back to Manila for a campaign sortie.. wait, chopper going down!” 🙂 )
But sometimes, use of the internet to campaign is irritating. Yesterday, I talked about Vic Magsaysay sending spam emails. The last time I heard, spamming is illegal according to the new e-commerce law. This lawmaker wannabe doesn’t know the law? (Or at least his assistant who will most likely become part of his staff when he wins). Tsk, tsk!

I got that too. It was badly composed. Not to mention that they sent the email to many reciepients, exposing my email address to people I don’t intend to share it with.
tsk tsk tsk…shame for them. it just shows that this lawmaker doesn’t even know what he’s preaching.
I am pretty sure that they do not know what spamming is.If they did, they will not indulge with this tasteless campaign.
yeah, spamming is despicable and it is more so for his case, because former senator magsaysay was one of the champions of it related legislations, including the e-commerce act. but, in fairness to him, spamming is not illegal under the e-commerce act. there is nothing in there about spamming.
got one too. I was like… oh.. okay. but I don’t consider it spam. I was happy because in a way I get to know whom I will vote. They should have made us BCCs.
Anyway, there are two magsaysays, the old magsaysay’s no longer running. and the one who sent the emails was his cousin i think.
Hire SEOs! 😀
This is why there is a good opportunity for companies like istandfor.com (now part of Vshift). Proper online campaign management requires depth of skills.
MAGSAYSAY IS ONE OF THE BEST POLITICIANS , SOMEONE MAY HAVE DONE HIM A FAVOR BUT INSTEAD DESTROYED HIS NAME. HE CAN PROVE TO YOU THAT HE IS NOT CORRUPT AND LYING POLITICIAN YOU CAN SEE FOR YOUR SELF AND GO TO ZAMBALES AND . THE LIES THAT SEN. RICHARD GORDON HAS BEEN TELLING ARE NOT TRUE.
Manny Villar did that too to all his constituents in muntinlupa-las pinas-zapote area when he was a congressman and about to run for senator. He used the snail mail with the logo of the house of representatives.
Though not a spam in the real sense of the word but to me that was some form of spamming.
