We got word from Sony Mobile Philippines that the official availability of their first NXT or next-generation Android phone, the Sony Xperia S, will be after Holy Week and will come with an SRP of Ph27,990.
The Sony Xperia S is a 1.5GHz dual-core Android 2.3 smartphone with a 4.3-inch display that has the highest pixel density among mobile devices. It also has a fast 12-megapixel camera thanks to its f/2.4 sensor with mobile Exmor R technology.
The official Sony Xperia S is bundled with 2 Smart Tags (NFC tokens), a screen protector, a fast charger that can give you an hour’s worth of talk time in just 10 minutes of charging, and an HDMI cable. If you don’t know what the Smart Tags are for, they’re just tokens that tells your phone to do something when it comes into close proximity with it. For example, you can use a token to tell your phone to switch to Office profile when it comes near it, then you leave this Smart Tag token in your desk.
It also comes with a 1-year warranty from Sony Philippines that’s not available to those grey market units.
Been using the Xperia S for a couple of days and the overall performance has been great. Love the ultrasharp display and the 12 megapixel camera. Speed performance is decent and the UI looks really sweet especially the new Timescape widgets.
Here’s a video walkthrough of the Sony Xperia S I took if you’re interested. Make sure you choose 720p.
