In a rather surprising move, Sony has announced its first foray in to the solid-state drive market which comes in the form of the SLW-M series drives.
The SLW-M series SSDs consist of two models, the SLW-MG2 and the SLW-MG4, which comes in 240GB and 480GB capacities respectively. Both SATA 3 storage devices has a slim (7mm) design and offers up to 560Mb/s sequential read speed and 530Mb/s write speed.
Both of Sony’s new SSDs will come with 9.5mm spacer, as well as two free software (Acronis True Image 2015 and SSD ToolBox), as part of the package. The SRP of both the 240GB SLW-MG2 and 480GB SLW-MG4 are yet to be announced, or if Sony plans to sell these outside of Asia, at the time of writing.
