Unknown to most of us, today is apparently ‘Safer Internet Day’. It’s ok if you didn’t know about it, or if you’re not in the spirit to celebrate it. Do know, however, that you are entitled to a free 2GB space on your Google Drive courtesy of the search giant.
Google is giving out free storage headroom to encourage its users to make their account more secure. To do this, users will have to review their current account settings such recovery information, account permission and 2-step verification settings to see if the data that are on there are up to date. On top of that, users will also have to check how many devices are linked to their account, and what those devices are.
Once everything is set up and/or updated, you’ll see a prompt (seen in the picture above) confirming the actions that you’ve taken and a notification about your free 2GB Google Drive storage. The addition cloud-based storage will be permanently added to your account’s total storage space.
