LTE has been a big news the past couple of weeks and you might be wondering what handsets will be available to cater each telco’s LTE plans.
Well what you’ll see in the picture below is Smart testing the Samsung Galaxy S2 LTE handset which is one of the handsets they’re considering to be bundled with an LTE mobile data plan.
This is the Samsung Galaxy S 2 LTE I9210 model which runs on the 1800Mhz band but with a maximum 21MBbps downlink, half of what Smart’s LTE service is capable of. Are we seeing cheaper LTE mobile data plans from Smart? Probably but only time will tell.
Anyway, this shows that Smart is not only banking on high-end flagship LTE handsets but also on mid-range ones like this Galaxy S2 which runs on a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon chip as opposed to the Exynos chip of its non-LTE brethren.
We’ll keep you posted as we hear more news of LTE handsets that Smart is considering. Right now, what’s commercially available from the telco is their LTE dongle which comes free on their LTE Plan 3500.
