Good news for those who would like experience LTE anytime on their mobile phone with no lock-in period, no monthly bills to pay, and certainly no worries! Smart launched the first prepaid LTE service for LTE-capable phones in the Philippines yesterday, Aug 15, 2013 at the Jump Center, SM Megamall.
Smart had initially made the LTE services available to its postpaid subscribers in 2012. April of this year, they launched the LTE SIMs for broadband devices. With the launch of the prepaid LTE SIM for mobile phones, Smart makes it possible for the majority of their subscribers to experience fast Internet connectivity speeding up to 42 Mbps.
Some of the LTE-capable phones include the iPhone 5, Samsung Galaxy S4, Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3, Sony Xperia V, Huawei Ascend D1, Nokia Lumia 920, HTC One, and ZTE 82.
The Smart Prepaid LTE SIM has two variants- the dual-cut micro-SIM at Php 40.00, which includes 35 free texts to all networks, and the nano SIM at Php 100.00, which includes Php 50.00 load. Later on, Smart plans to extend this service by bundling the LTE prepaid service with entry and mid-level LTE-capable handsets.
Existing Smart prepaid subscribers may upgrade their non-LTE SIMs and retain their numbers by purchasing the LTE SIMs at Smart Stores nationwide. Afterwards, they can enjoy Smart’s Prepaid LTE bundles.
To register, simply text 2200 the following codes:
- LTE 50 (Php 50 for 1 day)
- LTE 299 (Php 299 for 7 days)
- LTE 995 (Php 995 for 30 days)
To check the validity of the LTE subscription, text ?1515 to 214 for free or visit the Smart Menu and choose ‘Prepaid Balance’.
