For the past few years, phones have evolved from the analog to the digital, replacing physical keyboards with digital ones. While most certainly prefer smartphones, nostalgia still gets the best of many, even in technology. Much like Nokia did a few months ago, Samsung also reportedly intends to unveil a reimagined flip phone, dubbed the Samsung W2018.
Popular tech insight purveyor and Twitter user @MMDDJ_ recently posted Samsung’s plans on announcing the new-generation flip phone in Xiamen, China, on December 1.
Samsung W2018: the smartest, most powerful flip phone yet
Apart from a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset, 6Gb RAM, and 128Gb built-in storage, the new device will most likely feature two 4.2-inch FHD displays.
Like most phones today, the W2018 will come with a fingerprint scanner, and, as suggested, an iris scanner. It will also pack a 2,300mAh battery and run Android Nougat out of the box.
Much like other phones, Samsung W2018 will feature a fingerprint scanner on the back, and @MMDDJ_ suggests an iris scanner might also be available in the phone for quick authentication.
The best camera on any flip phone
While it won’t come with dual cameras, the W2018 touts a single, 12MP wide-f/1.5 aperture rear-facing shooter, claims GizmoChina. On the other hand, the front-facing camera will shoot at 5MP.
Pricing and Availability
To date, no news has surfaced regarding its price, or whether or not the new flip phone would launch outside of China. Nonetheless, many expect the phone to catch attention globally.
