More bad news for Apple today as LG and Samsung, two major players in the Android market, confirmed that they do not slow down phones as they get older, unlike iPhones.
LG and Samsung gave their statements to Phonearena recently, confirming that this practice does not exist within either company. Basically, this adds to similar confirmations from HTC and Motorola, who also denied slowdowns. Furthermore, LG seemingly fired shots at Apple as well, saying that ‘we care [about] what our customers think’.
Overall, this digs a deeper hole for Apple as it appears that slowdowns are not common practice. In fact, things got so bad that they recently put out an apology to their consumers. Furthermore, they offered discounted battery replacements for eligible customers. While this definitely seems like the right move for the brand, the company needs to keep up this transparency to bring people back. For now, though, we may rest easy knowing that Android companies do not do the same thing.
