WiFi access on cameras still has to catch up but Samsung has released three more units in their line of WiFi-enabled Smart Cameras.
Last night, Samsung launched the DV300F, WB150F, and the WB850F, all featuring WiFi support which should be a must-have feature for people who love to shoot-and-upload photos and videos instantly.
The joy of WiFi
These new cameras will allow you to instantly upload their photos and videos to Facebook, Youtube, Photobucket, and Picasa, or even send it to an e-mail address directly. Of course you need the camera to be connected to the internet via WiFi first. You can also send your shots directly to your Samsung phones and tablets, or even your PC without the use of cables. Another cool feature is using your Samsung phone as a viewfinder and remote for the camera in case you want to do self shots from afar.
Samsung DV300F – Php9,990
The Samsung DV300F is a dual-screen WiFi camera, with the other screen being in front so you can frame those self-shots perfectly. Who needs a companion to take your photos with a celebrity you spotted at the mall right? It also has an f2.5 bright lens for better shots under low light conditions. It also comes in black and silver/red.

Samsung WB150F – Php11,990
This is my pick of the bunch. The Samsung WB150F may not have that extra LCD but it does have a whopping 18x optical zoom and all you need is add another Php2k for it. You’ll get a 24-mm wide-angle lens which makes this a nice camera for vacations and trips. Zoom or wide, take your pick. You can even do manual settings. This cameras comes in black or white.

Samsung WB850F – Php19,990
The WB850F is the souped up versoin of the WB150F. It has a 21x optical zoom which is probably the longest zooming compact camera around. There’s also geotagging feature and can do Full HD 1080p video recording. However, it’s Php8,000 more expensive than the WB150F so better weigh your options carefully.
- 21x optical zoom
- GPS built-in map
- 16 megapixels
- WiFi Connectivity (SNS upload, Email, PC Autobackup, Remote Viewfinder, Mobile Link, TV Link)
- Full Manual Mode (A, S, M)
- f/2.8 aperture

All of these also come with the fun features Samsung compact cameras are known for. There’s Live Panorama, Magic Frame where you can embed your photo into fun backgrounds, Split Shot which merges 3 photos into one, and Picture in Picture.
