It’s now confirmed that the official Android Pie update for the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Samsung Galaxy Note 9 will be available on January 2019. Samsung is currently hard at work in making sure flagship units will get the update on the target schedule, but this doesn’t mean that all Galaxy Note 9 owners will have access to the Android Pie beta program.
Smartphones usually need certification under the phone and router categories before they are permitted for major Android upgrades. Since the Chinese variant of the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 already received certification for Android 9.0, it’s a good sign that the Note 9 will soon have a software update, along with Galaxy S flagship units.
There are also limitations to this upgrade, as countries where the beta program was held, will receive the updates first come January next year. A wider list of regions will follow suit by February or March.
