A couple of days ago, Research In Motion (RIM) launched its latest BlackBerry smartphone here in the Philippines, the BlackBerry Torch 9800. The Torch 9800 is BlackBerry’s flagship smartphone with dual input capability from its capacitive touchscreen or from a slideout QWERTY keyboard.
It will be the first BlackBerry here in the country to have the latest BlackBerry 6 OS which offers a lot of long-awaited improvements BB users are clamoring for. It is also the only BlackBerry at this time that has a 5 megapixel camera.
One peculiar thing about the BlackBerry Torch is its 624MHz processor which is a bit low for a flagship model considering that other new phones out there already has a 1GHz processor. When asked about their choice of processor, RIM reps told us that with the way how their phone works, you won’t need a powerful chip to enjoy and fully experience a BlackBerry. Using the Torch for a bit, it is indeed responsive and navigating through its UI is very fluid.
