As phones become more and more competitive, the features we get and the specs we expect from these new smart phones are becoming higher and higher. Take the latest announcement from Huawei as an example. Their newly announced Huawei Nova 2 Lite isn’t what you expect a 9,990 pesos smart phone would get you. — you would be surprised how competitively priced but generously specced this phone is.
It has been two weeks since we’ve started using this phone. Although the software isn’t the latest yet as of writing as they are still updating it manually to be Oreo 8.0, the first impressions we had with the phone was it was light, elegant, and pretty responsive for a mid-range model. At just 155 grams, it is not something very significant when placed in your front pocket. The size is comfortable when held as well as the body made of polycarbonate plastic is curved for comfort. The unit we reviewed, provided by Huawei, was blue in color and it was magnificent. Take note though that it is a finger-print magnet. We also noticed that it can get scratched so a rear screen protector is a good add-on accessory. The two other colors, gold and blue, might be less scratch resistant as it comes in matte finish.
Another thing we loved was the 18:9 display as the screen looked huge, perfect for watching movies on-the-go. In relation to that, the rear dual camera is also well worth of a mention because of the 13-megapixel with f2.2 aperture main shooter and 2-megapixel secondary camera with f2.0 aperture equipped with phase detection auto focus, and LED flash. We’d like to say more about the camera but let the photos below speak for itself. All photos below were taken using the Huawei Nova 2 Lite.
Another thing we’d like to specifically mention is the dedicated microSD card slot. It means that this dual SIM phone can actually accommodate 2 SIM cards and a separate MicroSD memory card at the same time, unlike other dual SIM smart smartphones currently available in the market.
Overall, the Huawei Nova 2 lite is a good mid-ranger and we can’t wait to use it more for a more extensive review. For the price of P9,990, you get what’s expected of a Huawei smartphone – a camera that performs really well, a snappy processor and an immersive display… and we think that it is a good deal.
Stay tuned for our full review.
