It was inevitable: DJI just announced the DJI Osmo Action, the Chinese drone maker’s own “GoPro Killer”.
From the looks up to the internals, the DJI Osmo Action is a dead ringer of the GoPro Hero flagship, shooting 4K videos at 60fps and 8x slow motion when shooting 1080p videos at 240 fps. For stabilization, the DJI action camera has RockSteady (GoPro calls theirs Hypersmooth), and moreover Timed Shooting Mode to match up GoPro’s Time Lapse Photo mode. But one thing that makes the DJI Osmo Action a stand out among the past “GoPro Killer” wannabes is its front facing display which really comes in handy since now you won’t be guessing anymore if you’re on frame when shooting all the action. The front facing display also makes the DJI Osmo Action an ideal “vlogging” camera. Yes, there is the DJI Osmo Pocket but the DJI Osmo Action offers more screen space at 1.4 inches
If there’s one brand that can seriously compete with GoPro, that would be DJI, and the DJI Osmo Action is poised on giving GoPro a run for its money.
The DJI Osmo Action is priced at USD $349. Visit https://store.dji.com/product/osmo-action for more.
