There are a lot of ways to spend quarter of a million pesos. Some would use it as a down payment for their dream car, while others would put it on an investment. However, if you’re a hard-core gaming enthusiast with Php249,995 lying around, you’re probably thinking of spending that money on a portable powerhouse like the Asus Republic of Gamers GX700 which has recently made its local debut.
So what will you get form a quarter-of-a-million gaming laptop? For starters, you get a drool-worthy 17-inch notebook PC that seemed to have come from an alien spaceship. From top to bottom, Asus have paid close attention to all the aspects of the GX700’s design, from the materials used down to the minute details such LED lighting, and different types of textures used on the laptop’s exterior.
The ROG GX700 is expected to perform as good as it looks. This isn’t at all surprising since it’s packed with an off-the-chart internal configuration comprising of mostly top-of-the-line components. This include a high-end Intel Core i7-6820HK processor, a pair of 16GB 2133MHz DDR4 DIMMs which equates to 32GB of RAM (can be further expanded up to 64GB with two more free RAM slots), two 256GB NVMe PCIe SSD configured in RAID 0 (512GB equivalent), and a powerful NVidia GeForce GTX 980 with 8GB of VRAM.
What really sets the ROG GX700 apart, however, is the accompanying water-cooling dock which comes bundled with the laptop. The dock’s seemingly other-worldly design matches that of the GX700’s and it allows users to push the hardware components even more thanks to its ROG-exclusive Hydro Overclocking System which include two (2) 90mm radiators cooled by its own set of fans, and a “specially formulated high-performance coolant” which Asus claims that can decrease the CPU and GPU temps by a third.
