Acer’s new smartphone, dubbed as the Liquid Jade 2, has all the right tools to be successful in the competitive smartphone scene: 5.5-inch AMOLED display, respectable 21MP rear camera that can shoot 4K videos, nice set of engine comprising of Snapdragon 808 with 3GB RAM, and support for DTS technologies for improved sound performance.
What sets it apart though from some of its peers is the hybrid storage solution that it has to offer. In addition to the 32GB on-board storage, users can opt to have additional storage headroom of up to 200GB by using a microSD card.
But if that kind of set up (32GB + 200GB) is still isn’t enough to cover your storage needs, Acer is also throwing in an additional 1TB of cloud storage in the mix. The company hasn’t disclose too much info about how users can effectively use the free cloud storage, but Acer claim that users can “seamlessly integrate local storage with cloud storage on select models”.
If Acer’s implementation of hybrid storage will be anything similar to what NextBit has done for the Robin smartphone, then the Acer Liquid Jade 2 should be an interesting proposition for those who value having tons of storage on their smartphone.
