In the world of professional digital photography/videography, the faster the write-speed of the card, the faster you can take huge photos or HD videos. Transcend tends to address the need for speed of CF cards by coming up with their own speedy CF cards called CFast cards.
The new CFast cards integrate the rapid, more robust SATA interface into the existing CF card form factor, greatly improving performance from the current and slower ATA/IDE interface-based CF cards. It retains the same size but it can deliver transfer rates of up to 108MB/s.
With built-in StaticDataRefresh and EarlyRetirement technologies, these CFast cards are able to correct data errors, ensure data reliability, and extend the lifespan of their flash memory cells.
Now all we need is a CFast card compatible digital camera and a SATA-based CF card reader hooked up to your PC to maximize transfer rate from these CFast cards. Unfortunately, this solution is made for industrial-grade applications. It won’t reach mainstream anytime soon unless we see compatible devices popping up.
Transcend’s CFast cards are being offered in 2GB, 4GB, 8GB and 16GB capacities.
