YouTube is the second video application available for the Nintendo Switch. Hulu was first to arrive on the Nintendo eShop. The new YouTube application has the same aesthetics as it does on the PlayStation or a Smart TV but what makes the switch unique on the Switch is it’s 360 capabilities.
360 on the Nintendo Switch
Nintendo emphasized 360 capabilities on the new application available. YouTube can be controlled with the Switch’s left Joy Stick and main buttons. The touchscreen partially works in handheld mode but for only searching and tapping into videos. The only downside is that there’s no option to swipe up and down while navigating around the app. The right joystick can’t be used for navigation, and can only be used for panning around videos in 360 modes.
When docked, you may also have the option to stream your movies: these will show up as purchases under YouTube account. Sadly, it could do with more features as it seems like a lackluster app to add to your switch. The app would be better if the touchscreen capabilities are at full access and the change of UI would also distinguish it from other YouTube apps. Hopefully, other streaming platforms will arrive on Nintendo soon.
If you have the Nintendo Switch, how’s your experience with it? We would love to read your comments about it!
