Chinese smartphone brand Xiaomi said its newly-launched Mi 8 series has realized a strong sale with less than a month in the market.
Xiaomi’s global spokesperson Donovan Sung said in his twitter post that 18 days after the launch, the company has already sold more than 1 million units of Mi 8 series.
“Sharing some amazing news. The Mi 8 series went on sales on June 5. Just 18 days later, we’ve already sold over 1M units! #Xiaomi #Mi8” he said in his social media post.
Xiaomi was able to hit this million-mark sales despite only entering a handful of markets. The series is composed of three variants: Mi 8, Mi 8 SE, and Mi 8 Explorer. The Explorer model will be out in July.
The Mi 8 touts a 6.1-inch OLED screen and a notch, with a 20-megapixel selfie camera and a dual 12-megapixel camera setup. It is powered by Snapdragon 845 processor.
The Mi 8 SE, meanwhile, is a lower-end sibling of Mi 8 with 5.88-inch AMOLED fullscreen display, and a dual camera composed of 12-megapixel and 5-megapixel sensors. Inside it is a Snapdragon 710.
The Explorer edition is like the Mi 8 with an in-display fingerprint sensor. It also boasts a 3D facing recognition technology.
In China, the Mi 8 and Mi 8 SE are priced at $421 and $281, respectively. The Explorer model will have a price of $577.
