Although Window Phones are not that popular here in the Philippines, there are still a lot of loyal fans who will be happy to hear that the Windows Phone Marketplace is now open for business in our country. Along with Argentina, Indonesia, Malaysia, Peru, the Philippines is one of the five countries who can enjoy access to free and paid apps in the Marketplace.
It was just last month that Windows Phone app submission place, App Hub, became available for developers to submit their apps to the 5 new markets including China. This opened the doors for local developers to earn from their games and apps, and also introduce localized apps that would suit the Filipino user.
With the addition of these five countries, the Windows Phone Marketplace is now available to 41 territories but not yet in China. You can however, submit your app to be made available to China once their Windows Phone Marketplace opens.
Right now, the latest Windows Phone which is the HTC Radar, didn’t get much traction in the local market but the coming of the Nokia Lumia phones in the near future may give the WP7 platform the boost it needs in the country.

Great to know… Now, if only I knew how to switch it to the Philippine region.
If you have previously selected a different country (for example in my case I selected the US Marketplace), then you will have to create a new Windows Live account to access PH Marketplace.
thanks neil!
Right now, my US Live account is tied to Xbox and wp7. If I create a new Philippine Live account for wp7, can I also use that to access my Xbox gamertag and buy Xbox content?
here is a guide how to set Philippines as your HOME WINDOWS PHONE MARKETPLACE

I have a Nokia Lumia 710. Got it in Singapore last December. It is now my main phone, quite fast and easy to use. Looking forward to the Philippine Marketplace.
I know a lot of microsoft developers here in the country and i hope this would encourage them to build apps for the WP7 platform. Sayang WP7 eh, ganda pa naman but it’s not getting enough push from Microsoft dito sa atin.

Microsoft just announced it last month.
You Mad Bro?
yup that’s for the developers… they just opened it for the users recently.
hello po. new lang po ako na user ng WP, I have lumia 610 po. alam niyo po ba pano ichange ang location from PH to US? hindi po kasi ako makapagdownload ng apps kasi hindi pa daw available sa location ko.
Replace your current live id. You have to create a new live id and choose US as your home country.
