HTC has been around the smartphone business since the Windows Mobile days. It’s still one of the top brands to consider when looking for a smartphone even here in our country. However, how many of you actually know what HTC stands for? Funny, I didn’t know either before writing this article (it’s High Tech Computer by the way).
In order to revitalize the HTC brand, HTC Corp. hired the services of the charismatic Robert Downey Jr. as their new spokesperson and to star in their new campaign “œHere’s To Change”. According to HTC execs and RDJ, the new direction they’re aiming for the HTC brand is “œanything you want it to be”.
HTC could simply mean “œHold This Cat” or something as absurd as “œHipster Troll Carwash”. Check out the campaign video, it’s brilliant.
HTC is still one of the brands that I like when it comes to mobile phones. They just don’t have the marketing power like other brands do but this move can easily put them back into the map. It will surely bring buzz and wider brand recognition. Kudos to HTC for bringing RDJ on board.
