Vivo Philippines officially anounced the company’s latest flagship smartphone, the Vivo V9.
The V9 follows most Android smartphone makers in a move to a full edge to edge display with almost non-existent bezels around, which means there’s now a notch up top the phone to accommodate the sensors and camera.
Specifically, the Vivo V9 packs a 6.3-inch IPS display with 19:9 aspect ratio (2280×1080), making it just a hair bigger than the previous generation V7+. The glass curves around its sides to blend seamlessly with the body. Despite having a huge display, the footprint of the phone remains comfortable to fit in most people’s hands.
The V9 runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 octa-core processor which is paired with 4GB of RAM. It has a 64GB built-in storage with a support for microSD cards of up to 256GB. It runs on Funtouch OS 4.0 based on the latest Android 8.1 Oreo and is powered by a 3260mAh battery.
It features dual rear-facing 16-megapixel + 5-megapixel camera and a whopping 24-megapixel one on the front.
The company is also touting some AI-assisted camera features such as AI Face Beauty which tries to identify the user’s age, sex, skin tone and texture as well as the lighting conditions. The AI Selfie Lighting, on the other hand, lets users apply a range of effects such as Natural Light, Studio Light, Stereo Light, and Monochrome Background. Users can also design their selfies with AR Stickers in a few clicks.
The Vivo V9 will have a retail price of P17,990 in the Philippines. It will be available in Pearl Black and Gold.
