This week, Vivo unveiled their new APEX FullView smartphone concept that creates new standards for smartphone designs, especially with the first highest screen-to-body ratio and Half-Screen In-Display Fingerprint Scanner.
Interestingly, this confirms past reports about Vivo getting access to in-display scanning technology, and now the brand will push the boundaries in security technology. Also, the brand will rethink the mobile experience, thanks to new tech in cameras, speakers, and sensors. The name itself, APEX, refers to the brand’s goal of setting new heights for the mobile industry, especially in making an immersive mobile experience.
The APEX will feature thin top and side bezels, breaking records at 1.8mm, and a decent 4.3mm bottom bezel. Finally, the screen-to-body ratio will exceed the 98% once Vivo also makes the bottom bezel 1.8mm as well. In fact, the brand may even end up making the first truly bezel-less smart device. For audio, expect Screen Soundcasting Technology which turns the whole display into a speaker. Basically, this phone will send vibrations through the display, eliminating a speaker component entirely. This results in optimal power savings, less sound leaks, and the best low-to-high pitch sound.
For the front camera, the APEX concept touts an 8-megapixel elevating front camera. This means that the camera raises in less than a second whenever needed. Add to that the hidden proximity and light sensors, and this might mean the end of the classic front camera spot. No worries about quality though, as Vivo still promises high selfie image quality. Meanwhile, Vivo’s Half-Screen In-Display Fingerprint Scanner transforms the entire bottom part of the screen into the scanning area. Just touch anywhere in the bottomhalf to have your print recognized, and you’re done. Overall, Vivo enabled a much more efficient and convenient security option.
Now, we’ll have to watch out for which Vivo phone will take after this initial concept. Be sure to follow the Vivo Philippines Facebook page for upcoming info.
