Vivo’s Apex 2019 is every bit as unique and innovative as mobiles get this year. Since its launch in January, much of the buzz surrounding the unit involves its design being ‘hole-less’ and with no physical buttons to control some specs. It’s also Vivo’s first 5G smartphone powered by Qualcomm’s X50 5G modem. It features a Snapdragon 855 chipset, and up to 12GB of RAM power and 256GB on-board storage.
Modern is the name of the game, and Vivo may just have a head-start in that category. To know if it’s worth considering, here’s what to expect from the Vivo Apex 2019:
Design & Construction
The Vivo Apex 2019 features an all-display, seamless design with slim bezels. It’s notchless as well and has no physical buttons or speaker grilles. How do you control the volume or audio, then, if this is the case? Vivo incorporates the ‘Touch Sense’ technology, a capacitive touch and pressure-sensing feature to replace the physical and volume buttons. Surprisingly, it still retained the 3.5mm audio port. The Vivo Apex 2019 comes in Black, Grey, and White variant.
Display & Multimedia
The Vivo Apex 2019 features a 6.39-inch AMOLED 1080 x 2340 screen display with a 403 pixel density. It doubles as the speaker; this is made possible by using a piezoelectric transducer to emit sound. What’s more is that its full-display fingerprint scanner has the capability to let you touch anywhere on the screen to unlock it, making the Apex 2019 the most progressive unit in this category.
Software, Chipset & Storage
Vivo Apex 2019 runs on Android 9.0 (Pie) powered by the Snapdragon 855 octa-core (2.84 GHz, Single core, Kryo 485 + 2.42 GHz, Tri core, Kryo 485 + 1.8 GHz, Quad core, Kryo 485) SoC. It’s paired with the Adreno 640 GPU and has a RAM capability of up to 12GB paired with 256GB/512GB of storage. With specs and graphical performance this intense, the Apex 2019 can sure contend with the latest gaming smartphones in the market today.
Camera
The dual rear camera setup on the Vivo Apex 2019 is a 12MP + 13MP affair with LED flash. It has no selfie camera but word is that it may have a pop-up mechanism. We’ll just have to wait and see during its launch. In addition, its shooting modes include Continuos Shooting, High Dynamic Range mode (HDR), Exposure Compensation, and ISO control.
Battery
Vivo Apex 2019 has 4100mAh battery power and uses MagPort for fast charging and data transfer.
