Following President Digong’s SONA where he recognized the “severe traffic congestion in Metro Manila”, Uber Philippines published an open letter to the President, saying that “Traffic Congestion is Our Shared Enemy” and that it’s a “#PartnerforChange in President Duterte’s #100daychallenge”.
Published in the Uber Newsroom website, the online transportation company stated that: “Traffic congestion is a complicated problem, and there’s no single solution. But thanks to technology, Uber can give millions of riders in Metro Manila a viable alternative to private vehicle ownership, and encourage those who have private vehicles to share them, right now, without any additional cost to taxpayers or the government.”
Earlier this year, Uber launched uberHOP and uberPOOL, as part of their efforts to get more people into fewer cars, which could potentially decrease the number of cars on the road and hopefully, help reduce traffic congestion.
