The 1TB-packing WD TV Live Hub media player was introduced late last year and people were hoping for something more budget-friendly, compact and doesn’t have any sort of internal storage. With that, Western Digital brings us the WD TV Live.
The WD TV Live is a very portable media player. It doesn’t have any internal storage but accepts your external drive using any of its two USB ports. It does, however, have WiFi built-in so that it can wirelessly stream content from any UPnP storage device in the network or better yet, the MyBook Live. An ethernet port is also available if you want a wired connection.
The AV connections at the back are pretty limited. You would probably want to use HDMI connection on this one but there’s also the composite (special cable included) output for your old TVs.
It is one of the two WD media players that has the latest UI and software that we love on the WD TV Live Hub. It has the polished look, easy-to-navigate and gorgeous user interface. You can also access selected internet sites and services including premium ones. If you wish to transform your TV into one of those internet TV, you can do so with the WD TV Live. Just remember to connect a wireless keyboard for easy internet surfing.
The new WD TV Live is already available at selected retailers for Php5,490.
