Remember the Sony NGP? Sony’s next-generation portable gaming device entertainment system? It’s now officially called the PlayStation Vita or PS Vita and will start shipping late this year for $249 for the WiFi model and $299 for the 3G/WiFi model. Not bad right?
To give you a refresher, the PS Vita incorporates a 5-inch (960 x 544) multi-touch OLED front display and a unique multi-touch pad on the rear. Together with the front touch screen and the rear touch pad, PS Vita offers new game play experiences, allowing users to interact directly with games in three dimension-like motion, through “touch, grab, trace, push and pull” finger motions.
PS Vita also features two analog sticks and six-axis motion sensors which enable a wider range of game genres to be brought into the portable experience, such as shooters, action, and fighting games.
By having both Wi-Fi and 3G network connectivity, together with various applications, PS Vita will enable infinite possibilities for users to “encounter,” “connect,” “discover,” “share” and “play” with friends wherever they are.
Game titles currently on the lineup includes: UNCHARTED: Golden Abyss, LittleBigPlanet, Ruin (working title), Street Fighter X Tekken, wipEout, ModNation Racers, Reality Fighter (working title), Super Stardust Delta, Sound Shapes, Hot Shots Golf, Hustle Kings and more. Powering these games is an ARM Cortex A9 quad-core CPU along with a quad-core GPU.
