LG just announced that starting next month, they are expanding the capabilities of their impressive LG G6. They do so by giving it better security options and more user friendly features. These include Face Print, and Low Power Consumption, and will be introduced to existing units through a software update. More to these upgrades, LG will introduce a new version of the G6, the LG G6+, featuring more storage and better sound.
The LG G6 Expanded Features
To enhance the LG G6 security options they will introduce the Face Print feature. This feature allows for better security as it uses face recognition technology. It unlocks the phone as soon as the users face is recognized, and it only activates when the phone is raised to the user face. This is an added function so as not to add to not drain the battery with the feature.
The next feature is a very important one these days, as staying connected is also synonymous to lo battery. The Low Power Consumption feature, is built into the Qualcomm Hexagon DSP architecture integrated in the Qualcomm Snapdragon mobile platform of the LG G6. With the All-Ways Aware hub able to use Google’s Contextual Hub Runtime Environment (CHRE) to sense and collect data at all times from both sensors and wireless connections to improve the user experience with third party applications. It does all this while using very little battery power and reducing latency.
Another new feature is the Covered Lens warning. This is a great solution for the annoying problem of covering a camera lens with your finger. As the LG G6 has a wide camera angle, photos can be captured and unknowingly have an unwanted finger in them. This feature simply notifies users on the display if a finger is detected. This happens before the shutter activates making sure you have a clean shot.
More Colors and More Memory
Beyond the enhanced software, LG is introducing two new colors for the LG G6: Optical Marine Blue and Optical Terra Gold. The backs of these new phones are covered with a lenticular film to deliver a mesmeric optical effect. On the front, the 5.7-inch screen is framed in all black for a seamless, consistent look that highlights the expansiveness of the FullVision display.
