The Lenovo ThinkPad is an iconic device. Conceptualized way back in 1992, it has remained loyal to some basic design elements for the past 25 years. However, it has made a lot of changes in its form as well, for example changing the logo design. A couple of years ago concepts for a potential Retro ThinkPad was posted on their blog. Since then tech enthusiasts have been wondering what the device might be like. Well, they do not have to wonder much longer.
The Lenovo Retro ThinkPad is Happening
According to David Hill, Lenovo’s Personal Computing Group & Enterprise Business Group Chief Design Officer, the heavily rumored device is definitely in the works. It took Lenovo a while as there were many things to consider including feasibility and market value. The idea for the device is to have the original concept of the ThinkPad but with modern equipment, meaning it is for a very specific audience.
Still, it is now confirmed and some details have already been revealed. It will have a rubberized black coating, and three TrackPoint caps. David Hill said that it will not cost $5000, and is not sure where the rumor came from. A prototype of the device has already been tested and it is said to be very promising. The Retro ThinkPad is definitely happening, we just need a bit more patience.
