Team Secret and The MongolZ became champions and the first ROG MASTERS title holders. They overcame teams from across Asia and Oceania at the Grand Finals in Kuala Lumpur,
Both teams will take home a large share of the 200,000 USD prize pool. Aside from that, of course, is the glory that comes with winning the ROG Masters debut event. 590 teams participated in five regiona Qualifiers that spanned countries like UAE, Japan, Mongolia, and China.
The MongolZ emerged as CS:GO victors. It was a journey that began when they entered the East Asia Qualifier in September, beating the top CS:GO teams of Japan and South Korea to win their ticket to Kuala Lumpur. Throughout the ROG MASTERS LAN group stages and Grand Finals, The MongolZ faced respected teams from Australia, the UAE, and Singapore. All of them were soundly defeated without a single loss to their record.
Meanwhile, Team Secret won in the Dota 2 final against Execration. A key part of their success seems to be the integration of a diverse group of players into a singular unit. The harmony was clearly there, and became especially evident after losing a round to Mineski.
The best of both continents then came together at the Grand Finals. A lot of young teams were recognized beforehand, especially ones that were just getting world exposure. And as the ROG MASTERS comes to a close, everyone now anticipates which team will rise to the top in 2017!
