Sony is starting to gain momentum in the smartphone market with its upcoming Sony Xperia XZ4. For the past few years, the Xperia line was starting to fall behind in the industry, and it wasn’t until the release of the XZ2 did things start to change for Sony. Word is spreading that a new follow-up is in the works, and it looks like something worth watching out for.
After the leaked CAD-based renders of the XZ4 by MySmartPrice and Onleaks, fans and critics alike were able to get a sneak peek on the phone’s design. It appears to be sporting a 21:9 aspect ratio and two sets of triple-lens cameras. This is a monumental leap for Sony, which was never seen as a big player in terms of camera performance. There was also the absence of a fingerprint sensor, which leaves aficionados to speculate whether the XZ4 will either use an in-display sensor or use the power button for it.
As for its specs, there’s no word yet regarding its other features but we can deduct from what was present in its predecessor. Since the XZ3 already uses a Snapdragon 845 processor, it’s highly likely that the XZ4 will feature Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8150 that’s due to release soon. It’s also possible that the XZ4 could have around 4GB to 6GB of RAM. And finally, given that the XZ3 retailed for $900 (Php 47,300), the XZ4’s price might roughly be around the same range.
Though there isn’t much news about its release, we can only guess according to Sony’s usual launch schedules. A safe guess would be to expect more news about the Sony Xperia XZ4 around the later part of Q1 2019.
