Sony made history this year by winning seven awards from the prestigious European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA). In fact, Sony also made history with EISA by winning the most awards in a single year. Overall, this feat places Sony in the top echelon of global camera makers.

EISA Camera of the Year 2017-2018

Sony a9 (Php 239,999)

Sony Wins At EISA

The big news story here lies in the a9 winning EISA Camera of the Year. This mirrorless camera exceeds its DSLR rivals by providing top-notch imaging technology.  One of its biggest features includes a 24.2 million pixel full-frame image sensor. But besides this, the a9 also touts a super-fast autofocus system that can even focus on objects in high-speed motion. Not only that, but its 5-axis image stabilization offers a 5-step slower shutter speed.

Prosumer Compact System Camera

Sony a6500 (Php 81,999)

Sony Wins At EISA

A compact system camera that works for either 4K video or stills, the Sony a6500 provides professional-level performance. How? With its 24.2 million pixel Exmor CMOS APS-C sized sensor, high speed, and lens options.

Meanwhile, its 425 phase detection AF points cover most of the picture frame, while you choose the focus point on the 3 inch touch screen. Plus, this camera supports up to 11 frames per second with continuous AF. It’s no surprise that it managed to take home the EISA Prosumer Compact System Camera 2017-2018 award.

Compact Camera 2017-2018

Sony RX100 V (Php 56,999)

High tech and compact, the Sony RX100 V offers a 1.0-type sensor, plus a great retractable OLED electronic viewfinder. The camera has a 0.05 sec autofocus response time, and a 24fps burst shot with AF/AE tracking.

Of course, this kind of excellence doesn’t stem from nothing. This particular camera can thank genius-level Sony engineering.  For example, this camera gets the 20.1 million pixel Exmor RS CMOS image sensor, and the fast BIONZ X image processor. Additional features include 4k video, 1000fps super slow motion, a multi-function control ring.

Superzoom Camera 2017-2018

Sony RX10 III (Php 87,599)

The Sony RX10 III is the perfect camera for the active and outdoor photographer. As the award implies, this camera specializes at extreme zoom-ins and zoom-outs that help enhance an image regardless of distance. The RX10 III in particular weighs just 1095g!  This means that it is an easy to carry, all-in-one, camera. In addition, it also provides a 25x zoom range with a fast f/2.4-4 maximum aperture with the ZEISS Vario-Sonnar T* 24-600mm lens.

Sony Wins at EISA: Lenses and Home Theatre

In the same awards ceremony, the Sony FE 100mm F2.8 STF GM OSS received the EISA Compact System Lens 2017-2018. It produces natural and smooth bokeh without vignetting issues. Additionally, it provides quick, quiet, and precise DDSSM autofocus.

Furthermore, it is capable of shooting  0.25x magnified close ups. It minimizes blur with the built-in Optical SteadyShot. Lastly, this lens offers the premium quality expected of the G Master series, for an SRP of Php 115,000.

Sony also bagged the EISA Professional Compact System Lens 2017-2018 award with the Sony FE 70-200mm F2.8 GM OSS. This impressive lens that works great for action and sports photography. The device has a focus on sharpness, keeping things well distributed, but still retaining it across the zoom range. The floating focusing system helps with the impressive minimum focusing distance of 0.96m. With 11 rounded aperture blades it ensures beautiful bokeh. Moreover, the lens can handle heavy use under all weather conditions. The Sony FE 70-200mm F2.8 GM OSS is priced at Php 169,000.

Lastly, we’ll also take a look at Sony’s award-winning television lineup. The Sony KD-65Z9D  provides amazing color reproduction, contrast, and support of all major HDR formats. Also, this particular television set offers great picture quality thanks to Sony’s 4K HDR processor. Not only that, but it also relies on full-array LED local dimming technology, and Backlight Master Drive.

With these aspects, it’s no surprise that the KD-65Z9D won the EISA Home Theatre TV 2017-2018 award. The SRP for this model is Php 444,499 for the 75 inch model.
