Sony is not yet done with their range of entry-level Xperia line-up with the announcement of two new smartphones, the Xperia miro and Xperia tipo.
Xperia miro
Sony is toting the miro as their fun social smartphone having a less than 10mm slim form and a stylish design with a deep integration to Facebook. It’s basically the toned down version of the Sony Xperia U in a smaller body without the transparent strip and having a peculiar reverse chin. It has a 3.5-inch anti-glare screen, Sony’s xLoud audio technology for loud and crisp sound, and a 5-megapixel autofocus camera with LED flash. It comes in white or black with a secondary color carved in at the bottom portion.
Xperia miro Features:
- 3.5 inch anti-reflection coating on mineral glass TFT touchscreen (320 x 480)
- 800 MHz Qualcomm MSM7225A
- Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich)
- 5MP autofocus camera with LED flash, video recording at 30fps
- Sony’s xLOUD audio technology
- Deep Facebook integration with contacts, gallery and the music player
- Customisable illuminations for incoming messages and social updates
- Front-facing camera
- DLNA connectivity
- Powerful battery with >24hrs usage time
- 113 x 59.4 x 9.9 mm
- 110g
- Available in black, black/pink, white and white/gold colours
Xperia tipo
The Xperia tipo is going to be Sony’s most affordable 2012 Android phone and reminds me of the Samsung Galaxy Y or HTC Wildfire S with its compact and curvy form. It’s an entry level form having a 3.2-inch screen and a 3.2 megapixel camera. It’s designed to be easy to use which should be perfect for consumers transition from a feature phone to an Android smartphone. It will run on the latest Android 4.0 ICS and has an impressive-for-its-size 1500mAh battery.
What’s also interesting to note is that Sony is also introducing their first ever dual-SIM Android phone in this model calling it the Xperia tipodual.
Xperia tipo Features:
- 3.2″ scratch-resistant mineral glass display (320 x 480)
- 800 MHz Qualcomm Snapdragon
- Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich)
- 3.2MP camera
- Dedicated set-up guide
- Data management solution to identify data usage
- Bluetooth and Wi-Fi for easy content sharing and web access
- 1500 mAh battery
- 103 x 57 x 13 mm
- 99.4g
- Available in red, white, blue and black
Both of these phones have an 800MHz processor putting them into entry-level country. Don’t expect ultra-smooth performance here but it will come with the latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS when it will be launched in Q3 of 2012.
This is just an announcement from Sony so we don’t have a pricing yet but we’ll surely keep you updated as to when these will arrive in the country and for how much.
