A Sleeker, Smaller Design in the PS4 Slim
Sony Interactive Entertainment Hong Kong Limited’s Singapore Branch (SIES) announced that the PS4 Slim with a 500GB HDD will be available in Philippines starting September 24 with an SRP of PHP 17,300.
The tech company revamped the internal architecture of the console by reducing its volume by over 30 percent, and its weight by 25 percent and 16 percent in comparison to the past two models. Finally, Sony touts that the PS4 Slim will be much more energy-efficient.
The Slim inherits the slanted body design of the previous models, but with curved corners. It’s a simple look that’s complemented by the glossy Playstation mark on the top surface. More importantly, however, all systems including the Slim and the Pro will support HDR imaging technology 4. This enables the reproduction of brightness and darkness while displaying a wider range of colors. These stunning new visuals and striking graphics are best viewed on compatible HDR televisions.
Playstation 4’s third year marks the strongest point in the console’s games portfolio. Some current titles that are nearing their release dates are Final Fantasy XV, Gravity Rush 2, Horizon Zero Dawn, and The Last Guardian.
The SIES also announced two bundle sets that will be available in the local market soon. These include a Playstation 4 NBA 2K17 Bundle priced at PHP 18,990, and a Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Bundle priced at PHP 20,490.
A truly leveled-up experience with the PS4 Pro
Sony also unveiled the powerful PS4 Pro, which promises to deliver an enhanced gaming experience and support for 4K quality. This souped-up model will cost PHP 22,900, with a release date to be announced soon. While the Pro is almost a different console altogether, it will continue to complement the standard PS4 and the PS4 Slim.
The console creators at Sony boosted the performance and capability of the system’s architecture, particularly the CPU and GPU. Playstation 4 Pro aims to deliver graphics with far more detail and precision by accomodating 4K quality through 4K television sets. In addition, PS4 Pro also supports 4K streaming and video playback for services like Netflix and Youtube. Finally, for HDTV owners, the PS4 Pro guarantees 1080p resolution for all PS4 games, complete with stable frame rates.
HDTV owners will also be able to enjoy the enhanced gameplay experiences on PS4 Pro. The system delivers 1080p resolution for all PS4 games and higher or more stable frame rates for some supported titles. It will also sport two USB ports to accomodate additional devices, including the upcoming Playstation VR system. The Pro comes with 1 TB to allow storage of more downloadable games, demos, DLC, and videos.
As an assurance for early console adopters, Sony promises that all future Playstation 4 game titles will be compatible with every model of the console. All models will also employ the same user interface and shares the same online community for multiplayer gaming and network services.
